father's day show

This was my first visit to this show and I found it to be somewhat a small event, not as big as the August show at this venue. According to the organiser, there were six hundred cars there. There were not many stalls in attendance, a few auto-jumble and a couple of food vendors.
We arrived on the Saturday and camped in the usual place (on the hill where it was flat). We had a couple of the members camping with us. Scott laid on the entertainment on the Saturday night with an awesome fire display, not with his usual bonfire but with his flaming baton and no he did not set fire to any tents vans or himself (Kirsty – I knew he was jealous when I was a majorette, he, he).
As we had camped on the hill we were invited to move down the next day and be part of the show, which we did. So everything was chucked in the van, no time to pack things away nicely. Luke and Toni had already gone down to the plot and marked it out so once the vehicles were in place we had to carry the gazebo down the hill.
Various cars were going into the arena in different categories throughout the day. We told Brian to take his van in when they asked for all VW Campers, but he said no. What a spoil sport! If he had done as he was told he would have won a prize (because no other campers went in). Luke took his Beetle in when they asked for all Sixties cars and we did manage to persuade Brian to take the van in later when they asked for all vehicles that had been owned more than five years. He did come close to winning a prize in this category; the Jaguar next to him won… how close was that! At the end of the day all the winning vehicles had to go back into the arena and the crowd chose the best show car by a show of hands.
Roll on August when we are back at Knebworth!
