battlesbridge VW WEEKEND
Our show and in its fifth year, we arrived for operation Battlesbridge on the Thursday. Unfortunaltey we had to sit around twiddling our thumbs because there was a birthday party being held in the marquee - we tried to work around it but it was difficult. Anyway, the site was marked out long before any traders arrived on the Friday.
Kirsty and Stuart took over the trade bookings and did a great job taking some of the pressure off of Brian. Carl was really focussed on the ‘Show n’ Shine’ arena and did a fantastic job, with the help of his marshals and judges - thanks all. In fact, all the members that helped did a grand job and without their help Brian would have gone into meltdown. The A.T.C did their part in making sure traffic into the show flowed smoothly.
The weather up until Sunday had been great but we think the rain on Sunday may have put some people off. There were other shows also taking place this weekend (how dare they!), such as Bug Lovin’, and I have read the comments on Volkszone and it seems that those that did make it to our show enjoyed it.
We had a varied mixture of traders and food vendors (a few too many caterers in fact). The father-and-son duo, Druids Brew, played several sets throughout the weekend. This is a band that plays out of a VW Samba and is well-known on the VW scene for providing a very relaxing vibe to the show. Please forgive us on the disco front, we are still having some teething troubles but we will get better honest. Many thanks to Hollie and Lewis who performed a fire display on Saturday night.
I hope you all enjoyed the show. All that is left for me to do is thank all the marshals, the litter pickers, the security staff, and anyone else I’ve forgotten to mention, for once again without your help the show would not run smoothly.
The Essex Air Ambulance received a donation of £1000 as promised.
Well done to those club members who won trophies in the Show n’Shine:
Rat Look – 1st Prize to Toni Rose
Rat Look – 2nd Prize to Paul Bussey
Daily Driver - 1st Prize to Alex Arnold
Custom Rod/Buggy – 2nd Prize to Gary Grout
Restored – 1st Prize to Paul Martin
Cal Look - 1st Prize Sarah Reilly
Any other Air-cooled - 2nd Prize to Dane Palmer
Please forgive me for this being a short report on such a special show but I am sure you will understand we were just that little bit busy.
Brian.
